The AMR APPG will convene a meeting to examine the omission of infection and AMR from England’s new National Cancer Strategy. Despite infections being the second leading cause of death in people with cancer and people undergoing cancer treatment facing a markedly higher risk of drug-resistant infections, the strategy contains no reference to infection or AMR.
The session will explore why infection and AMR must be recognised as foundational to safe, effective cancer care, and will consider the parliamentary actions needed to ensure this gap is addressed.
